When Mitchell’s dad turns his son’s love of cars into a bedtime game, it drives him right to bed…or rather Mitchell drives him straight to bed, literally!
Like any good driver, Mitchell inspects the vehicle, primes and preps the engine, and is off and running! Learning to steer and maneuver as he goes, it’s not long before his ride needs fuel, and that’s where he has car trouble…
Mitchell’s License is an adorable bedtime book for pre-school- through early-elementary-aged children (4-8). Any child who has ever rebelled against bedtime, as well as any parent who has ever found a way to get their child happily into bed, will love this book.
My own children loved the story, and it’s a book that I certainly won’t mind reading over and over.

Author Hallie Durrand is the creator of Dessert First, the latest book in the series based on a self-centered (but loveable!) eight-year-old girl. Mitchell’s License is her first picture book, and is based on a game her own children play with her husband called Remote Control Dad (I love that real life element!).
Tony Fucile illustrated Mitchell’s License. This long-time artist brings life and speed to Mitchell and his dad, with minimal but important background illustrations. There’s just the right amount of ‘real life’, balanced out with some ‘cartoon’.
