A little looking around and clicking links led me to this one. I liked those roses even better than the swirls, and decided to give it a try for Mother's Day.
Thankfully, the master baker behind Sweets For You is my BFF, so I got the insider info on a chocolate chip pound cake recipe!
The cake baked up nicely, and I set off to frost it...mainly with the goal of it not to end up with this type of result ;)
And...not so bad! I need to work on my spacial relations a little-- I kind of ran out of room for the bottom row of roses-- but once it was done, it didn't look too bad.
Next time, I'll put a thicker layer of frosting on the cake before starting to decorate, will make the color contrast more, and will pay better attention to the spacing. But overall I was happy with the results!
