Super interesting! I'm choosing to believe Brittany's theory on her 'punishment'.
I love this fun fact that I found out a few years ago too:
Lady Godiva rode naked not to show off, but to answer her (asshole) husband's challenge to do so and he would lift taxes. ✊
Know any others?
Such a great quote.
“Being born a woman is an awful tragedy. Yes, my consuming desire to mingle with road crews, sailors and soldiers, bar room regulars—to be a part of a scene, anonymous, listening, recording —all is spoiled by the fact that I am a girl, a female always in danger of assault and battery. My consuming interest in men and their lives is often misconstrued as a desire to seduce them, or as an invitation to intimacy. Yet, God, I want to talk to everybody I can as deeply as I can. I want to be able to sleep in an open field, to travel west, to walk freely at night.”
It was pretty cool to read that the landing pilot for the emergency landing was a woman. And crazy to read how rare that still is.
(I know that the important part was that the plane was landed safely, but this was an extra bonus.)
Whether you're feeling like Wonder Woman or just more like a little squishy puppet, make it a good day! ;)
I, um, have dark brown hair...
1 outta 10 ain't bad? hahaha
"I cried because I live in a society where men think it's okay to tell a girl these things, and that the girl would respond by thanking him."
NOT safe for work or kids.
The point- yes.
The execution- no.
"My non-response does not mean a ‘yes.’ Only ‘yes’ means ‘yes.’ This is now true in Cali when it comes to sexual assault. California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) just signed a bill that clearly defines what consent means because apparently the concept of ‘yes’ can be too difficult for some to grasp. Let’s say it all together now: No means no. Yes means yes. And if you didn’t hear yes, it’s not a yes. The law is the first of its kind in the US, and it’s aimed at making sexual assault investigations more clear-cut. This comes as the Department of Education is investigating the mishandling of sexual assault cases on dozens of US college campuses."
HOW DOES THIS HAVE TO BE LAW?!?!
With a love of children and a passion for reading and writing, Kelly decided to share her experiences with others through the pages of the Crib Notes book and site.
