As we're all running around trying to collect the items at the top of everyone's list, take a moment to remember what your little kids REALLY want for christmas-- they just want you near them. True, they may really want that game, but sitting and playing it with them (no laptop propped open next to you!) would make it so much better.
This video is humbling. (The clip at the 3 minute mark had me spontaneously sobbing when I first saw it on the news last year...and again this time.) This is not sad because it's not filled with festive lights and trees, it's sad because it's true. This is real life for many people.

Take a moment in front of your Christmas tree this year and say a prayer of thanks that you get to be with your family, a prayer of safety for those serving our country, and a prayer of hope for parents who are away for any reason, and for the families they're missing.
