I tried my hardest to make Crib Notes humorous without being eye-rollingly flippant. There's nothing fun about some parts of pregnancy and parenthood, but that doesn't ruin the overall experience.
I am bored by the dryness of clinical how-to's, and annoyed by the incessant snarky complaining of some moms. I'm not talking about venting to those who understand, because I do that all the time and love reading about the challenges and solutions of other moms. I'm talking about the not-entirely-true, scare-tactic-like, I'm-too-young/hip/skinny/cool-to-be-a-mom kind of writings like this (which I hesitate to give any more air time to, but will as an example of poor writing and negative propaganda).
For me, this is more like it. Funny, sarcastic, not too serious. She obviously recognizes universal issues, and addresses them in humorous but actually useful ways. She doesn't preach about pros and cons of time outs, or positive discipline, or self-parenting, she just let's you know that your kids will survive-- and so will you.
