BUT- is this really good advice? Ok, she may have the PhD that I don't, but I only partially agree with her advice.
#1- While you don't want to set a bad example, there is a certain truth to "Do as I say, Not as I do". There are some things that adults can do that children simply cannot.
#2- True, do NOT be a pushy stage mom but, as the mother of a shy guy, I know that it's important to encourage new friendships and test the waters with new experiences-- as long as it's for the sake of the child, not the sake of your popularity.
#3- Micro-managing Drill Sergeant, no; Organized, Coordinated Structure-provider, yes.
#4- Your children and their friends should feel relaxed, but should respect boundaries as well.
#5- You should allow your child to have his own style, but you should make sure that he's appropriately dressed (yes, fireman boots can be appropriate for grocery shopping). Also, while you don't want to impose your style, you also don't want to encourage them to follow the latest fad.
These are just a few of my opinions. What do you think?
