I love to be organized. It doesn't always happen, but I try really really hard. This list of organization myths made me feel a little better about decluttering overall.
My favorite is #2. I love for everything to have a home of its own. Here, I see that maybe that's not as efficient as I thought.
#3 drives me crazy. Do not spend money on tons stuff in which to stash more stuff! I've gotten much better at #5, but I don't entirely agree with #9. Some things are sacred-- no matter how badly they cramp your house or your style. But DO get rid of things that are only marginally-special, or that you realistically have no use for.
Some think an organized space is an organized mind; others operate under the messy-desk/clear mind excuse. You should do whatever works for you. And only start a system that you can commit to. Color-coded files and dedicated containers only work when you continue to use them.
Best wishes for clearing the chaos in your own life, in your own way!
