And if it is truly a day that honors moms, then shouldn't it be used to honor the ones who have passed (often too soon in this case) too?
Furthermore, while it may be a day that honors moms, we're still the ones (most often) hosting the company and preparing the brunch. And as much as we may enjoy that, "disappearing" for the day by giving up cards, calls, and facebook updates doesn't seem very effective in ending maternal mortality. In raising awareness? Perhaps, although a blank status update that reinforces your own importance doesn't do much for awareness.
