and all you're ever going to be is mean.
April is Child Abuse Awareness Month. Over the past couple weeks I’ve read several articles and posts that link to horror stories of abuse, or reference acts so extreme that they don’t seem real. But they are.
Those stories make me physically ill. My stomach is sickened by the severity, my brain does not comprehend the motive, and my heart aches for the helpless children. But surely nothing I feel could compare to what they’re feeling.
I’m choosing not to cite specific examples of abuse—not because it’s uncomfortable for us to read, but because I feel that our time can be better spent.
Please take a moment to think about children in need—in need of an escape, in need of a meal, in need of a hug—and then say a prayer (offer up a thought, submit an intention, whatever your format of choice may be) that that child is helped. And, if nothing else, that they feel LOVED.
If you or someone you know is in danger, there are many people who want to help. Bucks County Childrens Advocacy Center and many other agencies are there to help.
CAPE (Child Abuse Prevention Effort) is another local agency dedicated to the prevention of abuse and neglect.
You Are Good is one of many many companies that donate proceeds to child abuse prevention efforts. Check out their angel-winged tank tops.
