I see something and want to do it. This is why Pinterest is so dangerous for me, but that's another whole issue. Of course, I always over-simplify. How hard can it be to sew some curtains? Let's do our own home addition! Ok, I've only tackled one of those two things (so far...).
So, when it comes to my kids' birthday parties, I like to bake my own cake, build my own pinata, and organize some games.
Earlier this year, I learned about buttercream transfers from my BFF at Sweets for You. I've dabbled with fondant, but honestly I don't think that the result is worth the effort (plus, buttercream tastes MUCH better).
B Boy wanted an Averngers cake. I decided to start simple and go with the logo. I simply found the image, reversed it to mirror image, and printed it. I taped a sheet of wax paper to the paper and, with buttercream in a piping bag, I traced the outline and popped it in the freezer.
After a little while, I filled in the letters, and back to the freezer it went. Finally, I added a layer of the same color icing that I used for the cake.
Have you used this technique before? Share a photo! Or let me know if you give it a try.
Up next, a really cool craft that can easily be turned into many different games!
