If you've been following Crib Notes for even a short time, you know I'm not a big fan of Giveaways and crazy contests. This product, on the other hand, is awesome enough that I had to break my own rules :)
Really Easy And Dynamic Strategies, or READS, is a self-proclaimed Homework Helper. This reading education tool is truly a one-of-a-kind in the marketplace.
Unlike other programs, this kit is a one-time purchase; you don't need to buy books, or gear, or anything else that you don't already own. (As long as you have a child at home, you're all set :) )
Although it's designed for K-4th graders, it can be used for children who are not yet reading, and the question cards can be used as discussion points for any age reader.
My older son is 4, so he's just getting into some sight words, not nearly reading, but I still used some of the tools with him. He has great reading comprehension (or listening comprehension, I suppose, as I'm the one who's reading). After reading a book to him, we used some of the cards and his comprehension really did show through. HE was most interested in the Magic Finger, but I like the insight I got-- which is unusual since he's unable to really articulate that at this point.
I really like the Speedy Speller dictionary and quick reference guide also. I can see that being a great "cheat sheet"! There are so many cool components but, as the Reading Rainbow guy says, you don't have to take my word for it!
