Sound familiar? It does to me!
Why Can’t I Be You is a story of growing up and finding yourself…or someone who looks like you who you can pretend to be.
When Jenny is mistaken for Jessie, a girl with a very different past than her own, it seems like a great opportunity. It would be an easy out from her failed romance, her difficult parental relationship, and a job that’s more of a job than a career, and an entrance into friendships, self-confidence, and experiences that she has never known. But we all know that won’t work forever.
Allie Larkin’s characters are so relatable; I can see my friends in each of them. These realistic relationships make the story believable and enjoyable.
{Special thanks to my kids who were so enchanted by their first flight, that I was able to read half of this on the way there, and half on the way home ;)}
Why Can’t I Be You was written by Allie Larkin and published by Plume, February 2013.
